About Image Splitter
Image Splitter exists for one specific job: turn one image into multiple clean, correctly ordered pieces without adding workflow friction.
Image Splitter is operated through splitimage.im as a public browser-based utility. The product is maintained for creators, marketers, designers, educators, and small teams that need a fast way to prepare image sequences without sending private files through an upload-heavy workflow.
For support, privacy, legal, or product questions, the public contact channel is [email protected]. We use a single public channel so user reports, rights requests, and policy questions can be tracked consistently.
Why we built it
We built this after repeatedly seeing the same pain points in other tools:
- Forced uploads for a task that should be local
- Watermarked output unless you pay
- Confusing UI for simple split tasks
- No reliable output order for posting workflows
- Too much bloat around a basic operation
Our direction is intentionally narrow: do one thing well and make it dependable.
What “good” means for us
For this product, “good” is not a flashy UI. It means:
- You can finish the job in under a minute
- You understand the result before download
- You get predictable tile order
- You can repeat the same workflow tomorrow with the same behavior
Product choices we made on purpose
Local-first splitting
Core split processing is designed to run in the browser.
No account wall for core usage
You can use the main splitter without registration.
Practical presets plus custom control
Presets cover common social use cases, and custom rows/columns handle edge cases.
Output formats that teams actually use
PNG, JPG, and WebP are supported because those are the formats most users publish with.
What people use Image Splitter for
- Instagram grid layouts and carousel sequences
- X/Twitter split-image posts
- Tiled poster preparation for print-at-home workflows
- Creative campaign asset slicing
- Simple educational or presentation visual sequences
Current limits (transparent by design)
At the moment, the main splitter is tuned for:
- File size up to 20 MB per image
- Grid sizes up to 10x10 (100 pieces)
These limits are explicit so users can plan around them.
What this product is not
Image Splitter is not:
- A cloud DAM platform
- A managed bulk media pipeline
- A legal rights verification service
- A substitute for platform-specific final QA before publishing
How we improve the tool
We prioritize changes that remove real friction:
- Fewer mis-ordered uploads
- Better mobile interaction quality
- More helpful failure states and recovery hints
- Better consistency across browsers and device classes
We review bug reports, browser compatibility issues, and recurring user confusion before adding new features. Changes that make the core split/download flow clearer take priority over broad feature expansion.
